NDMA warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain, and flash flooding in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a severe weather alert on Friday for four regions across Pakistan. The warning covers parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, cautioning residents about impending thunderstorms, heavy rain, hailstorms, flash flooding, and landslides over the next 12 to 24 hours.

The NDMA urged local authorities and the public to take necessary precautionary measures. This includes preparing emergency kits, securing loose objects that could be blown away by strong winds, and avoiding travel during peak weather conditions. Authorities have been advised to monitor the situation closely and be ready to implement rescue operations if needed.

In response to this alert, residents in affected areas are being encouraged to stay informed through local weather updates and follow instructions from emergency services. The NDMA’s proactive approach aims to minimize potential damage and ensure public safety during the expected severe weather conditions.
