Dutch coach Arne Slot, who led Liverpool to their first Premier League title since 1990, reflects on his time at the club.
Dutch football manager Arne Slot has penned a heartfelt farewell message after securing the Premier League title in his inaugural season with Liverpool. The former Ajax and PSV Eindhoven coach took over as Liverpool's head coach in January 2023, succeeding Jürgen Klopp, who stepped down to focus on his role at the German national team.
Slot’s tenure was marked by significant achievements, culminating in a historic Premier League victory for the club. "It has been an incredible journey," Slot wrote. "From day one, I knew the expectations were high and the task challenging. But with the support of the players, staff, and fans, we managed to achieve something special."
The 47-year-old guided Liverpool through a season filled with ups and downs but ultimately delivered on their primary objective by clinching the title in the final match against Manchester City at Anfield. "Winning the Premier League is a dream come true," Slot added. "It's not just about the trophy; it's about the team spirit, the togetherness, and the passion of everyone involved."
Slot expressed gratitude towards his players for their dedication and hard work throughout the season. "Each player brought something unique to the table, and together we formed a formidable unit," he said. "I am proud of what we achieved as a group."
Looking ahead, Slot acknowledged that Liverpool will continue to be one of the top clubs in English football. "The club has a rich history and a bright future," he stated. "I wish the team all the best for the upcoming seasons under new leadership."
